Summer 2021

It’s summertime and the livin’ is easy. With places reopening, we all feel like we’ve emerged from hibernation. And there’s lots of news!

As you know, Nancy worked hard in the last year and a half to facilitate a smooth transition and is now able to enjoy the well-earned fruits of her labor. It’s official: she is enjoying retirement on Galveston Island, and we wish her and her family the very best.

I am also excited to announce that I have put in place a continuity and succession plan, in the unlikely event that something should happen to me. I am young and plan to remain with you all for many years to come, however, business continuity is essential for the security of you, our clients, and the financial assets you have entrusted to our care. We have teamed up with David O’Donnell of The Patriot Financial Group. He and his team have deep expertise in retirement planning and distribution strategies, tax reduction strategies, wealth management, and all of the other aspects of financial planning that we provide, which makes for an excellent fit. I am also thrilled with the additional back-office and marketing support that their group is providing by serving as a liaison within the larger Securities America family. Please reach out to us by phone or email with any questions that you have about this.

Summer Clean-Up

For those of you who spent the pandemic cleaning out and renovating, please feel free to bring us your files to be shredded. Let us know when you’ll be coming. Typically, you will find us in Salem on Mondays and Wednesdays and in Clifton Park on Tuesdays and Thursdays, but it’s always best to call ahead.

How do you know what to shred and what to keep? According to Michael Kitces, CFP® of kitces.com and celebrated advisor to advisors, not everyone agrees on how long to keep certain documents. The FTC may have one rule and the IRS another. We’ve provided this link to Michael’s checklist and document storage advice: Checklist Of Important Documents To Keep Or Shred (kitces.com)

Vacation

We’ve got some office vacations planned, but you’ll be able to reach someone no matter what. Recall that in 2020 our team grew by two with the addition of Harold Heintz and Rheagan Scribner. Rheagan will be away the first week of August (8/2-8/6), and I’ll be away the second week (8/9-8/13), but with three of us in the office we’ve got plenty of coverage to make sure your requests get handled. I will be reachable by phone and email if something urgent arises, but I am sure that my team can help with most anything that comes up.

And remember, it’s summertime.

Live easy.
